PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Healthrageous · Data Scientist · Seattle, WA (Remote) January 2023 – 2026

Healthrageous is a healthcare startup operating at the intersection of food-as-medicine and value-based care, serving commercial health plan members with nutrition-forward interventions. As the primary data scientist, I owned the analytics stack end-to-end — from raw claims ingestion to executive-facing dashboards — across a dataset of millions of member records, insurance claims, and behavioral data points.

Key Achievement: Designed and executed a PSM-based observational study demonstrating statistically significant reductions in ER and inpatient expenses attributable to food-as-medicine interventions — a genuine real-world evidence contribution in a commercial healthcare setting.

Built forecasting models for a ~50,000 unit/month e-commerce environment, achieving <2% variance from actuals — directly informing inventory purchasing, revenue projections, and financial planning.

Developed PSM-based retention models identifying a 10% lift in member retention, validated with statistical hypothesis testing and presented to executive leadership.

Modeled food-as-medicine impact on medical expense using propensity score matching on insurance claims data, demonstrating statistically significant ER/IP cost reduction — a publishable-quality observational study.

Engineered analytics pipelines across millions of member records, healthcare claims, and behavioral datasets; executed SQL migrations and contributed to enterprise data warehouse architecture design.

Built and maintained 20+ Power BI dashboards serving 30+ users across finance, product, and clinical operations; reduced manual reporting time by 40%.

Integrated AI workflow automation across data processing pipelines, reducing pipeline execution time and analyst bottlenecks at multiple stages.

Managed financial forecasting, invoice reconciliation, and month-end close analytics as part of the data function.

WHAT MAKES ME DIFFERENT

I am not a data scientist who learned healthcare — I am someone who has cared for patients, lived in the communities my data describes, and worked at the UN, in AmeriCorps, and in research labs where the stakes of getting it wrong are measured in lives and policy. My statistical work is grounded in that context. That's not something you hire for; it's something you grow into.

End-to-end ownership: I've built the pipeline, designed the database, written the model, built the dashboard, and presented the findings — in the same week, for the same project.

Causal reasoning in messy real-world data: PSM and observational study design in healthcare environments where randomized controlled trials aren't possible — the gold standard for real-world evidence.

Context-switching across technical and non-technical audiences: from boardroom decks to Python notebooks to client-facing BI dashboards, I translate across registers fluently.

Field-tested adaptability: having conducted research in Sub-Saharan Africa, worked across 13 countries, and navigated data scarcity in high-stakes environments, I don't panic when the data is imperfect.

Mission alignment: I've chosen roles not for their prestige but for their impact — environmental research, public health, humanitarian data, healthcare — and I bring genuine conviction to that work.
